Jiancai Hou is currently a second-year IoT student at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, and he has over four years of C++ software experience. He is currently working as an intern student with the University of Turku on an autonomous navigation robot with AI and 5G. Sibly Noman, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering student at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Sibly Noman is passionate about advancing the fields of microwave antenna development, CubeSat communication subsystems, and mechanical engineering. His research spans low-power IoT devices, nanosatellite development, UAVs, and rocket science. With hands-on experience in various research projects and satellite communication systems, Sibly continues to explore innovative solutions for upcoming technologies. Siddarth Singotam, a third-year software engineering student at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland. He is working as a research intern at the University of Turku. The work is based on computer vision, a field of artificial intelligence (AI) that handles object detection, classification, and profiling. His tasks include the preparation and storage of Helsinki Port datasets, training and evaluating AI algorithms, traffic pattern recognition and generation, profiling vehicles in real-time, and extracting statistics and insights. Shahil Sharma: He is currently a third-year student at Savonia University of Applied Sciences and is working as an intern at the University of Turku. He is working on object detection, classification, and profiling using the Helsinki port datasets. His tasks include evaluating AI algorithms, dataset preparation and storage, generating traffic patterns, profiling vehicles in real-time, and extracting insights. Kelvin Aliche: Kelvin is a 3rd year IoT student at the Savonia University of Applied Sciences, with a first degree in computer engineering. He works at the Digi Center as an IoT engineer on smart agriculture; he previously worked on an automated irrigation system designed to efficiently manage water usage in agricultural fields, gardens, or lawns by leveraging advanced technology. The automated irrigation system has significant applications in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. By leveraging modern technology, this automated irrigation system optimizes water usage and provides a robust tool for mitigating some of climate change’s impacts on agriculture and water resources. Jessy Lecomte: He arrived at Savonia University of Applied Sciences in April 2024 as an exchange student from IUT, Bethune, France. He has worked to understand the objectives and functionalities of a smart factory to help enhance security measures within advanced manufacturing environments. In this short two-month exchange internship program at Savonia UAS, he explored the smart factory model, especially ERP and MES systems, IT and OT technologies, embedded sensors and their communication protocols. Finally, he has created time stamped datasets, including packet sizes, for future AI-enabled vulnerability analysis. [Posted June 2024]

Danila Morozov: He is a first-year IoT student at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, holding a Bachelor’s in Northern European History and a Master’s in Modern Russian History. He is an intern at Finnvolt Oy on the Machine Vision for Recognizing Components in Electrical Schematics (MVRCES) project . In April 2021, he began working with Fruct OY on the Cycleadvisor project, improving the database and website. He is working on this project concurrently. From May to October 2023, he worked in COST Action 18110 Underground4Value Working Group 1 to develop a case study knowledge base. [Posted November 2023]

Robin Pressl and Max Steinke: They are from Carl-Benz Schule, Germany, and came to Savonia University of Applied Sciences in autumn 2023 as an exchange student. They are currently working with a 3D printing model and Arduino environment. Using 3D printing, they designed and printed the box for the Arduino and then worked with programming the control system using the potentiometer. Md. Khan: He is currently a fourth-year IoT student from Savonia University of Applied Sciences, and he is working as an intern student with Savonia Water Lab on Open Platform Communication-Unified Architecture for Critical Infrastructures. He has implemented the visualizations for several sensor data sets using the OPC-UA standard for both the Savonia Water Loop and the Savonia Smart Factory. Sameer Karn: He is currently a fourth-year IoT student from Savonia University of Applied Sciences and he is working as an intership/thesis student with Savonia Water Lab under the AQUISEC project. Abhinav Kayastha: He is currently a second-year IT student from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland and he is working as an intern student with the University of Turku on Image annotation, machine learning algorithms, and image detection and processing. [Posted June 2023]

Zoltan Lengyel: He is from Hungary and came to Savonia University of Applied Sciences from John von Neumann University, faculty of Engineering and Computer Science in Spring 2023 for six months. Martin Allard: He visited Savonia University of Applied Sciences in the spring of 2023 as a final-year project exchange student from the University of Artois, France. He has worked with Digita Company to develop LoRaWAN wireless communication protocol with several sensors and for low-powered IoT applications. [Posted June 2023]

Samuel Dupin: He visited Savonia University of Applied Sciences in the spring of 2023 as a final-year project exchange student from the University of Artois, France. He has worked with the 3D Visual Component tool to create a digital twin for a smart factory.
